Sonoran Project

“The Sonoran Project” is the result of years of family genealogy research by descendants of early Mexican Pioneers into Kern County. The program will offer some historic information coupled with a genealogy workshop for anyone needing assistance in researching their family Ancestry. KCGS members Rachel (Ozuna) Arias and Sherri (Valdez) Killion are life-long residents of Kern County. Both have traced their family ancestry to before 1870’s and 80’s here in Kern County. Many families with Mexican ancestry who reside in Bakersfield today can do the same. From the early days of gold mining to present, the Mexican people of Kern County have contributed and been a part of Kern County since it first existed. Come Join Us, Thursday June 11, 2015, Beale Memorial Library, Tejon Room, 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.---Refreshments will be provided
